Update - May 22 2011

Final Fantasy 5 is making me eat a lot of my words lately. Namely, that Square is largely irrelevant, and that they were going to eventually run out of the ability to remake Final Fantasy 4 before they'd have to get around to a revamp of 7. Also it's making me retract my original position of 5 being a snore of a grindfest, all of the work of Disgaea with not much in the way of payback. This position is, after almost twenty hours of gameplay, completely wrong.

We've really started to get to the meat of the plot and the combat system is becoming more and more our "bitch", so we'll hopefully bulldoze through the rest of this by the end of this or next week. I'll write an update on Nocturne and a write-up on FF5's mechanics tomorrow.
